A custom piece starts the same way every time: someone walks in with an idea. A sketch on the back of an envelope. A photo of a ring their grandmother wore. A stone that has been in a drawer for twenty years. Sometimes just a feeling about what they want and no idea how to describe it.
That is the part we are good at — turning the idea into a drawing, the drawing into something you can hold, and that into a piece you will wear every day for the next forty years. Engagement rings and wedding sets, a stone you already own remounted into something you will actually wear, jewelry you inherited re-made, and one-of-a-kind gifts.
All of it is designed with you and set at our own bench, here on Central Avenue.
How a custom piece happens
From the first conversation to the day you pick it up.
Tell us the idea
Come in and talk it through — no appointment, no charge, no obligation. Bring whatever you have: a photo, a drawing, a piece you inherited, or nothing at all but a budget and a date.
Choose the stone
We source diamonds and colored stones to the size, color and budget you set, and you look at the actual stones before anything is decided. If you already own the stone, we design around it.
We draw it
Your idea comes back to you as a drawing — the shape, the proportions, the way it will sit against a wedding band. Changes are easy on paper and expensive in gold, so this is where we take our time.
See it before it exists
A rendering or a model of your piece, so you can look at the real thing from every side and change your mind while changing it is still free. Nothing is made until you say that is it.
The price, before we start
Metal, stones and bench time, quoted up front along with a realistic date. You decide with the whole number in front of you.
Cast in your metal
Yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. It comes back to our bench as a rough casting — heavy, unpolished, and already the right shape.
The bench
Filing, soldering and shaping by hand, then every stone set under the microscope. This is the slow part, and the part that forty years of practice pays for.
Yours
Final polish, a last look under magnification, and a phone call. Try it on at the counter and wear it out the door.
The three questions everyone asks
Straight answers, before you come in.
What should I bring?
Anything that helps us see it: photos you have saved, a ring that fits the right finger, the piece you want re-made, the stone you already own. If you have none of that, come anyway — most custom pieces start as a conversation and a number.
How long does it take?
Several weeks for most pieces, from the first drawing to the finished ring, depending on the stones and the design. Tell us your date at the first conversation — if it is tight, say so, and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.
What does it cost?
It depends almost entirely on the stone. The whole piece — metal, stones and labor — is quoted before any work begins, and we would rather design to a number you give us than talk around it.
